Hooked On A Feeling

In May 1973 I was 11 years old and  Bjørn Skifs sang “ooga-chaka-ooga-chaka” for the first time. It brings back so many memories!

If you, like me, grew up in the 60s and 70s I hope this song brings a smile to your face. If for some strange reason you haven't heard it, let me be the one to introduce you to Blue Swede!

Today is 11 of january 2022. I woke up at 04.11 and was unable to go back to sleep.Often when I wake up early I know I need to write something and as soon as I got up I was humming Hooked on a feeling. So here I am writing about that.

There are a lot of things to be hooked on. Let me mention a couple of mine.I am totally hooked on feeling happy. Yes I know that it is impossible to be happy all the time, but guess what, you can take control over your thoughts and think in a way that makes you happier. Is it easy? Nothing is easy the first time, but most things get easier with practice. There are several ways to get that happy feeling flowing and music is actually one of them! I am sure you too have favorites that make you want to dance and songs that make you cry. So make sure to have several playlists and use them wisely.

It turns out that I am totally hooked on ice baths as well. How that came to be is not easy to explain because nobody ever forced me og pressured me to do it. I realized after a couple of times that going into the cold really gave me magic. I got hooked on the feeling. It's always hard to explain to people that haven't tried it. It's so contradictory as we all think of going to the beach and taking a bath as a way of cooling down. It's a summerthing for most people. But with cold water comes a lot of benefits. You have the beach totally to yourself! The water is crystal clear and there are no jellyfish. Your immune system gets a boost and your happy hormones go crazy. I have been going into the ocean 1-3 times a week for over 5 years and cannot imagine stopping. You can find my CHECKLIST for happy ice bathing here!

There is one thing that many people are hooked on these days…the news! Let me give you some safe advice. The news goes on without you!! Give the news a break. It is not a good thing to be hooked on. It makes you miserable. There is a lot in this world that you can do something about, and the news is not one of them. So turn it off and use the hours on something that is good for you. You make the rules…remember ;)

What feeling should we get hooked on today?
